alright

I haven't been feeling like sharing my life here recently. Or maybe I just don't have that much to say.

thank you

My friends, thank you for your comments on my blog, for having lunch/dinner with me, for chatting with me on gchat, for taking a walk with me, for your emails, and above all for helping me see that you love and care about me.

books

I have been into fiction since I read the twilight. I just finished "my sister's keeper", and I will read "brave new world" before "the time traveler's wife" gets delivered to my door.

I am back!

It's nice to be back in Ann Arbor and hang out with my friends. Now my typical week only gives two nights to myself, so my schedule is a little bit busy this week since there is lots of catching up to do.

Brian and I met yesterday afternoon in his office and chatted a bit. Jinli, Sau and I went to Red Robin for dinner. The burger was so so good.

Ciara and I are having lunch today. Then this evening I am going to help Jinli pick a new car at the dealer's.

My research group are probably going out for lunch tomorrow. After work I need to go to costco to run some errands.

Hopefully Brian and I will get to have lunch together on Thursday or Friday.

Thursday night is my d-group. And I will drive to FW on Friday afternoon. Rui and her husband are coming up to FW to visit us this weekend.

Phew!

Today we hiked in the mountain, walked on the beach, and had a nice dinner by the lake. I am very thankful.

i am fine

I am feeling fine now, except that my stomach is still a little upset.

I am still in Indiana now, but we will drive back to AA tonight. We fly to Reno the first thing tomorrow morning, and then fly back on Sunday.

I hope you all have a great week!

sick

I had a little bit fever plus a big headache, and my stomache was really upset. It is not THE flu though. Probably the result of stress + cold.

sort of a mess

Recently I have been troubled and confused by a friendship. There was a lot of miscommunication. What I said was interpreted in a different way from my original point, even after I spent certain length of time on explaining myself. In the meantime, I probably got the wrong message as well. We both felt frustrated and hurt. And most likely there are deeper issues involved for both of us. Anyway, it was a total mess.

The good thing is that we both love God and desire to love each other like Christ loved us, even though we are not able to do it right now. I need to humble myself and leave it to God. The more I try to fix it, the more messy it will probably be. I hope it would be long-lasting friendship that builds us up. However, it is not my call.

insecurity is poison to relationships

:D

Q: Doctor, I've heard that cardiovascular exercise can prolong life. Is this true?
A: Your heart is only good for so many beats, and that's it... don't waste them on exercise. Everything wears out eventually. Speeding up your heart will not make you live longer; that's like saying you can extend the life of your car by driving it faster. Want to live longer? Take a nap.

Q: Should I cut down on meat and eat more fruits and vegetables?
A: You must grasp logistical efficiencies. What does a cow eat? Hay and corn. And what are these? Vegetables. So a steak is nothing more than an efficient mechanism of delivering vegetables to your system. Need grain? Eat chicken. Beef is also a good source of field grass (green leafy vegetable). And a pork chop can give you 100% of your recommended daily allowance of vegetable products.

Q: Should I reduce my alcohol intake?
A: No, not at all. Wine is made from fruit. Brandy is distilled wine, that means they take the water out of the fruity bit so you get even more of the goodness that way. Beer is also made out of grain. So have a cup now and then!

Q: How can I calculate my body/fat ratio?
A: Well, if you have a body and you have fat, your ratio is one to one. If you have two bodies, your ratio is two to one, etc.

Q: What are some of the advantages of participating in a regular exercise program?
A: Can't think of a single one, sorry. My philosophy is: No Pain...Good!

Q: Aren't fried foods bad for you?
A: YOU'RE NOT LISTENING!!! ...... Foods are fried these days in vegetable oil. In fact, they're permeated in it. How could getting more vegetables be bad for you?

Q: Will sit-ups help prevent me from getting a little soft around the middle?
A: Definitely not! When you exercise a muscle, it gets bigger. You should only be doing sit-ups if you want a bigger stomach.

Q: Is chocolate bad for me?
A: Are you crazy? HELLO Cocoa beans ! Another vegetable!!! It's the best feel-good food around!

Q: Is swimming good for your figure?
A: If swimming is good for your figure, explain whales to me..

Q: Is getting in-shape important for my lifestyle?
A: Hey! 'Round' is a shape!

Well, I hope this has cleared up any misconceptions you may have had about food and diets. And remember: 'Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways - Chardonnay in one hand - chocolate in the other - body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming 'WOO HOO, What a Ride'

AND.....

For those of you who watch what you eat, here's the final word on nutrition and health. It's a relief to know the truth after all those conflicting nutritional studies.

1. The Japanese eat very little fatand suffer fewer heart attacks than Americans.

2. The Mexicans eat a lot of fatand suffer fewer heart attacks than Americans..

3. The Chinese drink very little red wine and suffer fewer heart attacks than Americans.

4. The Italians drink a lot of red wineand suffer fewer heart attacks than Americans.

5. The Germans drink a lot of beers and eat lots of sausages and fats and suffer fewer heart attacks than Americans.

CONCLUSION

Eat and drink what you like.Speaking English is apparently what kills you.

woohoo

My boss is out of town. And he will be gone for 40 days, which will be a serious test on my self-discipline. The good (?) thing is that I have some deadlines that will keep me going.

Jen and I had lunch at Yotsuba today. I enjoyed the food and the company. Thanks, Jen!

I have been having struggles with some of my relationships. On one hand, I am frustrated by the fact that I seem to have relational frictions all the time. On the other hand, God probably sees it as the most effective way of molding my characters. So I will just have to deal with it.

Btw, if you have time, read this beautiful post:

good things that happened last weekend

1. Brian and Dem got married on Saturday. It was a happy wedding. I am grateful that I got to be part of it.

2. We had a safe trip. There was a little bit traffic on our way back, but overall it was a smooth trip. Bhramara and I spent some quality time together.

3. Although it was cold up north, I didn't get sick.

4. Tommy and I were able to chat a bit during the reception. (Keep on blogging, Tommy!)

5. Jinli made me dinner on Sunday evening. It was good to have some home-made Chinese food again.

this week

Overall I have had a productive week, mostly due to the fact that my boss has been working down here in the lab with us, for some mysterious reason.

Jinli and I went to see "up" last night. It was good, but sad. I don't think the ending was a happy ending either. :(

Brian and I had lunch yesterday. I told him that I felt like I had been watching him grow up. And now he is getting married, in two days! It kind of makes me feel old. :)
