a string to connect pieces of my life

it's all good

I just went to the exercise room upstairs and killed some calories. Although the output is much less than the input tonight, which was a full dish of pasta and a large slice of cheesecake, I did get rid of some of my guilt. BTW, I love the Cheesecake Factory.

It has been a fine day. I did nothing except eating, watching TV and shopping. I was going to listen to a few talks, but the movie "I am Sam" was on TV. It kept me in my room until all the interesting sessions finished. Too bad.

The weather was great today. In the afternoon, Rui and I and another two girls went to the "center of Kansas City"--- a huge outdoor shopping mall. We didn't really buy anything. It was simply nice walking along the street and chatting.

Kansas City would be a good place to live. I have no idea how safe it is or how the economy is. From what I have seen, it is very clean and beautiful. Most people I met were nice. As a large city, the population is low, I guess, because we didn't see many people or much traffic.

It is interesting that the city is divided by the Missouri River into two parts. The east belongs to the state of Missouri, and the west belongs to Kansas. It must be a big headache to the city council because they have to deal with two states. From our hotel room, we have a awesome view of the whole city.

Although the first couple of days were very stressful and tiring, and frustrating because of the job fair, Rui and I both agreed that it's a wise decision to come to the conference. Some of the talks were very down to earth. We practised our interpersonal skills and had a good taste of our long and painful job-hunting process.

The big bonus is that I made a couple of friends here. Actually, I met one of the girls long ago, but not until this trip did we have chance to truly know each other. We shared some thoughts last night and hung out a lot today. It was great fun.

All in all, I am quite grateful for being here. Well, maybe it's just the cheesecake talking. Or life might be amazing. You never know.

Gather all of your friends....huddle up while standing on all 4 states at once (of course you'll need to bring exactly 4 friends for this ( any more and u will have 2 in 1 state (any less will leave one state friendless ( is this legal punctuation ? ) ) ) ), and scream CHEEESEECAKEEE!!!!
